Mission Statement
The goal of this project is to swap a Chevy LT1 engine into a Jaguar XJS. This is
something I have wanted to do for about 10 years, ever since I read most of Mike
Knell’s books on TPI engine swaps (available at Jags That Run).
I didn’t always plan on a Jaguar as the recipient vehicle. At one time or another I considered the following vehicles:
- Chevy S-10 pickup (engine compartment too small)
- Chevy Astro van (didn’t want to drive a van)
- 1964 Chevy Biscayne wagon (what was I thinking?)
- Volvo 240 wagon (this was the top contender)
When I did come across a cheap Jaguar, and looked into what was required for
the swap, it seemed obvious that the Jaguar was the way to go. I didn't
want to do any fabrication, and since I could buy every special-purpose
swap part I needed, the path was obvious.
Read on as we execute the plan. Linda created and maintains this site, and
I write the copy for it.
Here's Chapter 1, where I discuss the
goal and the strategy. Disclaimer: I do a lot of project management at
work, so if this website contans a lot of off like PM-speak I apologize.
I will try to avoid
using terms like "project sponsor" and "takeaway items".
